Coaching Credentials:
Meet Maria
Although credentials and prior work experience are an important part of my story, it is who I am as an individual, the choices I’ve made and how I’ve been shaped and influenced by my communities, family, institutions, social norms, historical forces as well as spirit and the geography I’ve been brought up in that guide my coaching practice. Also who I am becoming through my interactions and connection to others while moving towards my heart's desires and my soul's mission.
I’d like to use this space to highlight 6 lessons learned along my journey so far as they relate to my work with leaders and their teams.
-
As cliche as it sounds it is true.
We each have a finite amount of attention. It is our most precious resource. How we deploy it is always up to us.
Focus on the problems or focus on the solutions.
Focus on what you can't stand or focus on what you would much rather.
Focus on the darkness or focus on the light.
You are always at choice.
-
I’ve had to learn to not let my pride and defense mechanisms get in the way of my healing, growth and building healthy connections.
It’s not easy to give yourself this permission to reach out for support. But it's so worth it.
The most precious gifts I’ve received have come through time and attention from generous mentors that have seen and heard me. They have both validated and challenged me with compassion and love and I am forever grateful and inspired.
-
Go first. Start with yourself. Know yourself. Keep your inner structure intact.
This will make it possible for you to have the bandwidth to hold space for, to understand and serve others.
Good leadership is about service, and self awareness is key to good leadership.

As a young professional I set out on a mission to create stability in my life. This caused me to place a high value on logic, discipline, structure, responsibility and drive. All powerful invaluable qualities that I would be lost without. However, I neglected and sometimes outright shunned my emotional intelligence, intuition and somatic wisdom.
I now know and am learning to include and honor all of my parts and enjoy their synergy. I feel so much more alive this way!
-
I’ve witnessed, been a part of and experienced the consequences of avoidance in both professional and personal relationship systems.
Problems never just go away unaddressed. They get transmuted, passed along and grow bigger and messier.
Direct confrontation can feel intimidating, but courage, honesty and engaging in compassionate conflict allows the chance for a change in the trajectory.
We have more than just hope for a better future for generations to come. We have agency.
-
I had to learn to find compassion for myself before I was able to be compassionate towards others in an authentic way.
This allows me to see past my own experiences and those I can easily relate with to understand humanity’s interconnectedness and the false, divisive narratives we so easily get caught up in.
Look at the division in our world.. Will we continue this way? Groups taking turns being the victims and oppressors?
Our world needs less division; more unity.
Lets celebrate our differences and the richness that they create when we find ways to collaborate.
I believe the world needs people who know how to enjoy life, lead themselves and authentically connect, communicate and collaborate with others.
Together we are more.
I am truly passionate about this.
I am honored to be able to serve my past, present and future clients and their teams.
Are you frustrated by the relational energy drains in your team?
Are you seeking a professional co-explorer you can trust to co-create and implement a viable team building strategy for your particular team?
Do you yearn for enjoyment, creativity, peace, harmony and prosperity at work and at home?
As a coach…
I am deeply committed to my profession as well as my personal development and relationships, always striving to do ‘the work’ alongside my clients.
I work with my own coach and/or psychotherapist in arcs to continue exploring my depths and discovering new possibilities.
I am part of a peer to peer coaching supervision & mentorship program and continue to actively learn new layers of team building, somatic coaching approaches as well as resilience-based and trauma sensitive coaching.
I aspire to be a lifelong learner and experience more of what this life has to offer as I continue to learn to trust life, love better and collaborate with others to contribute and cultivate my own coaching practice + life outside of this work.
